Thule Air Base in northerly Greenland has been of great tactical significance to the US ever since it was created in the early 1950s, enabling a radar to survey the skies for missiles approaching from the North Pole.  The US government believed the Soviet Union would destroy the base as a opener to a nuclear strike against the US. As a result of this, the 1960′s saw the US undertake the aptly titled ‘Chrome Dome’ missions in an endeavour to provide a viable deterrent. This deterrent took the form of B52 bombers armed with several nuclear explosive devices routing over the territory being able to navigate immediately to the Russian capital Moscow, to deploy their payload should the Soviet Union strike the base at Thule.

However, the plan did not work out quite as smoothly as they had anticipated.

In late January 1968, one of these missions ended in near disaster when a B52 bomber carrying four nuclear armed explosives caught fire and crashed onto the ice several miles from the Thule base. The pilots recount that a fire was reported in the cockpit which quickly spread to other sections of the plane making a scheduled and safe landing impossible. A few minutes after the fire broke out the two pilots and four crew members took the decision to eject themselves from the striken aircraft before it crashed into millions of pieces on the ice below.

Following the crash, military personnel, local Greenlanders and Danish workers rushed to clean up the debris and to retrieve the nuclear explosives. Unfortunately, only the US military personel were aware of the existence of nuclear materials meaning the local islanders were not wearing any protective clothing during the clean up exercise. Upon hitting the ice during the crash, the four nuclear devices detonated but given the bombs were not armed the nuclear triggers did not function and simply broke up along with the rest of the wreckage. Millions of gallons of ice were taken from the crash site from which the US government later confirmed that all the explosives had been ‘destroyed’.

B52 Bomber Dropping Payload

This is where the story somewhat darkens. The US sources were technically correct in their statement around the bombs being ‘destroyed’ however, what was not revealed at the time was that only 3 devices had been accounted for from analysis of the debris. Documents reveal that  officials concluded that one of the devices must have become extremely hot during the crash and melted through the ice into the freezing waters below.

A rescue mission was then launched (without the knowledge of the Danish authorities) to recover the missing device. In April 1968 a US submarine was dispatched to the area. The underwater search was beset by technical problems and, as winter encroached and the ice began to freeze over the search was abandoned. The US papers reveal that they held the opinion that if the weight of the US military could not locate the device it would be extremely unlikely that any other country could either and therefore, no further searches for the device were undertaken.

For what of the consequences of leaving a nuclear device sitting in the ocean? The declassified papers reveal that scientists believed the radioactive material would simply dissolve in such a large body of water, making it harmless….

Guardian UFO Documents

Fortunately, Arthur knew a man who was captivated by the area of ufology, Graham Lightfoot. Graham, used the slightly rough co-ordinates he received from Arthur Bray to not only identify the ‘UFO crash-site’ close to Manion Corners, but also tracked down a quantity of eyewitnesses.

One of those eyewitnesses, Diane Labanek, asserted that during the hours of darkness on the 4th November 1989, she saw an powerful, bright light cross overhead, heading close to a bog at the far end of the meadow to the rear and south side of her residence. She revealed she also observed a number of helicopters earlier that sunset using illuminated floodlights to survey the region. Another West Carlton inhabitant recollected that was the weekend when some livestock ran away from a neighbouring pasture, and that it took until late Sunday to retrieve them. Another pair of witnesses related to Graham about the wife becoming frightened by an extremely bright light beamed throughout their south facing bathroom windowpane. “It went right down our hall!” exclaimed the witness. The wife additionally recalled that she indistinctly recollected hearing the noise of helicopters during the the period. Other people spoke of “dogs and livestock being disrupted”.

No further contact to date has been made from the individual entitled ‘ Guardian’ to this date and there are many questions around this now infamous UFO sighting. Fortunately, the video evidence which has been examined many times by industry experts and confirmed to be authentic is available in the public domain and is included below for your viewing. You decide what to make of this UFO sighting, the one question, to consider is what was an unnamed individual doing in a remote field with a camcorder at the ready? this does seem to suggest the event from the ‘Guardians’ perspective may not have been as random as it was for the eyewitness Diane Labanek.

The revelation around this episode is included in more than 1,000 pages of official records, describing hundreds of UFO sightings between 1987 and 1993, which has been made available openly at the National Archives in Kew for the first time today. The liberation of this once top secret files comes as reports of UFO activity in Britain are significantly increasing.

A picture of the incident has been made available which depicts the diamond shaped UFO craft in the skies above Scotland. Also in the image is what was later verified as a UK Harrier Jump Jet fighter craft and comparing the two airborne objects it is clear this craft was of a significant size. Given the british MoD’s stance on the investigation of UFO sightings which has been held for many years this investigation is a clear departure from established processes which emphasises the concern that was generated from this as yet unexplained aerial phenomena.

Our motives for this debate focus upon the alleged evidence held by the US government including the retrieved alien spacecraft during the recovery of the ‘weather balloon’ in Roswell New Mexico in 1947, along with the presence of a second crash site in which physical Alien entities were also recovered. If, therefore, this ideal is correct why does the United States Government spend an enormous quantity of Public funds by way of NASA missions to identify ‘life in our solar system’ as per the recent launch of the Kepler Mission.

If advanced alien technology as exposed by Bob Lazar, particularly Element 115 (alleged fuel to power anti gravity propulsion units), is available what are the Governments motives for continuing to identify Alien races outside of the gaze of our current technology? If evidence exists why do they continue to spend funds attempting to answer a question that they already know the answer to?

Granted, they may wish to understand precisely where in the vast expanse of space this alleged UFO craft originated (assuming a return to sender badge was not affixed upon the craft!) and perhaps to search for different species, but to search for the answer to the ‘are we alone’ question seems to us somewhat superfluous.

The mission was of a classified nature and was principally a military exercise with military personnel. However, it also involved scientific organizations comprising the US National IGY Committee and the respected National Program which was more immediately concerned with the mapping of Antarctica to record perspective US territorial claims. The original code name apportioned by the Navy to the Antarctic mission was Project Longhaul, expressive of the lengthy logistics channel amongst the United States and Antarctica although which was subsequently altered to the now recognized codename of Operation Highjump.

Robert Scott Lazar was born in Coral Gables, Florida, in 1959 and is a name numerous people associate with Area 51. This is due to the fact that claims to have been employed at a complex recognised as “S-4″ deep within the now dry Papoose lake bed. Bob Lazar is the most infamous whistle blower following his claims in the early 1980′s that he was employed by the US government to understand how extraterrestrial UFO space craft operated. He effectively was claiming that his employment was to directly reverse engineer “recovered” space crafts.

Lazar claims during the early days of his career he worked as a physicist on a highly classified government project, named Galileo. He also claimed to have received a 2 page briefing document in which it was claimed that Alien life forms indeed exist and been integrated within human evolution and that their spacecraft are being housed at S4, 15 miles away from Area 51, deep within Papoose Lake. Bob portrayed the complex as having being built into the bottom of the Papoose Range with nine aircraft style hangar doors angled at 60 degrees. Lazar further described the space craft that he performed on as being powered through an anti-matter reactor and as yet unknown energy source named “Element 115″.

Bob Lazar evidence to support his employment and subsequent whistle blowing claims came by way of a payslip which contains the intriguing designation E-6722MAJ and an internal telephone listing of the Meson Laboratories 1982, which included Bob Lazars name. It was also identified that his taxation documents incorporated the contract number he was provided while working at Area 51. Certainly some convincing evidence to support his employment at the top secret base. However, people started to become somewhat sceptical of his claims when it emerged that his educational background did not stand up to scrutiny. No substantiated evidence could be found that he had attended the California Institute of Technology or the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as he had previously stated. Following his subsequent conviction after setting up a computerised security system in a location which turned out to house an illegal brothel, he became a discredited figure.

Certainly Bob Lazar and Area 51 go together well in terms of conspiracy theories however, given the information to support his employment at the US base some parts of his claims indeed stack up. If what Bob says is true then Area 51 (or the Air Force Flight Test Center as it is now known) is sure to be housing some significant artifacts and astounding technology, lets hope that President Obama can include these case files in his revolutionary freedom of information act release of classified information. We may at last be able to ascertain the validity of the hundreds of discredited stories not only of Bob Lazar, but others whom have dared to come forward in the belief that the knowledge and existence of alien technology and/or life should not be concealed for the privileged only, but should be for the consumption of all that wish to know.

Mr Pope claims he started his job with a “largely sceptical” viewpoint as to the idea of placing valuable resources into investigating the existence of UFOs. He is now however a renowned science fiction author and a regular media commentator on UFO and Alien matters and is one of the few individuals in a position of authority to say there is a problem in our skies which needs to be properly and immediately addressed.

UFO and Alien conspiracy theories characteristically inform each other and often ensnare so closely that it is hard to determine who initially made any particular accusation. In more recent matters, relating to the Conisholme UFO Crash site in which an alleged alien craft crashed into a wind turbine, Mr Pope has suggested this case “could have the potential to finally provide answers to the global UFO and Alien Sighting mysteries”.

During his time in the British MoD he identified numerous cases where UFOs had reportedly been tracked on radar, leading to jets being scrambled, and has even suggested that Pilots of these elite craft have been ordered to shoot down UFO’s over the skies of the UK.

The UK government however has a significantly different policy to that of the general public in these matters and the standard MoD line surrounding any suspected UFO sighting is “Unless there is evidence of a potential threat, there is no attempt to identify the nature of each sighting reported”.

Mr Pope has written four books in his career and hundreds of articles relating to UFO and Alien matters. Operation Thunder Child is Pope’s first fictional book sourced upon on evidence he identified whilst working for the British Governments MoD. The now famous ‘Cosford Incident’ facilitated Nick’s belief that something had to be done about the weaknesses of the UK’s air defence program which in his mind is being penetrated by UFOs. Mr Pope is committed to an open and honest debate around UFO issues, and feels that there should be full disclosure of all information on UFOs and other matters relating to the subject, held by governments around the world.

Nick’s unique access to new data and old government files persuaded him that the UFO and Alien Sightings raised significant air defence and security issues. He estimates that around 85% of his cases were explainable, 10% were lacking credible evidence, and 5% were unsolved. And whilst Mr Pope says that there is currently no evidence of a hostile threat, this cannot be ruled out.

It is little surprise however that our airborne defence machinery provided by the Royal Air Force (RAF) have to date failed in their attempts to down Alien craft given what many to believe is far superior technology than offered by our jet engined warriors.

This new revelation in terms of UFO activity in the UK and the governments knowledge of it comes direct from the outspoken UFO supporter Nick Pope whom stated ‘We know of cases where the order has been given to shoot down — with little effect to the UFO,’. ‘Firing at UFOs was not automatic but happens when something in our airspace is deemed to be a threat’ he said.

The British public however are probably never to know the true details of any of these UFO incidents given the term ‘threat’ used renders any case files unobtainable for fear of breaching national security and as a consequence cannot be released under the freedom of information act (FOIA). Mr Pope further commented “‘The public won’t know unless it comes down in a heavily-populated area”.

Mr Pope confirmed that in the case of UFOs, whether the object is causing a threat is very much a (pilot’s) judgment call,’. ‘The rules of engagement were drawn up after dozens of encounters with unidentified craft and there was a faction in the MoD who said “We want to shoot down a UFO and that will resolve the issue one way or another’.’ He further claimed that ‘witnesses had given statements about dozens of near-misses between UFOs and planes, RAF jets and police helicopters.

The MoD has refused to provide any comment upon Mr Pope’s comments and will undoubtedly remain silent in the future. That is, until one of these reported UFO crafts are actually bought down in a large and public display which will undeniably prove the existence of alien life on other planets. This will of course leave the governments in our world wondering how to spin it positively for the furtherance of mankind.

President Obama Signs His First Presidential Orders

On his first full day as President, Barack Obama issued two Executive Orders and three Presidential Memorandum that will embark upon an era of transparent and Open Government. The White House Office of the Press Secretary released a statement outlining the fundamental changes which will be implemented by the Obama administration.

Most exciting from a UFO researchers view is the Presidential memorandum on the Freedom of Information Act, which will effectively make it easier for individuals and organisations to obtain access to declassified documents pertaining UFO sightings and even alien sightings all of which under the George W Bush administration have to date refused to declassify.

The specifics of the Presidential memorandum in relation to the release of classified UFO files states; “all members of his administration to operate under principles of openness, transparency and of engaging citizens with their government. To implement these principles and make them concrete, the Memorandum on Transparency instructs three senior officials to produce an Open Government Directive within 120 days directing specific actions to implement the principles in the Memorandum. And the Memorandum on FOIA instructs the Attorney General to in that same time period issue new guidelines to the government implementing those same principles of openness and transparency in the FOIA context.

If President Obama and his new administration keeps true to their word on this memorandum it could prove to be a momentous time in terms of the flow of information. What knowledge the US government has about the presence of alien life visiting our planet and indeed many hundreds of UFO cases that the public have been aware of could well be know over the coming years.
