February 15th 2009 saw the inhabitants Russian south eastern Siberian city of Chita with a population of around 300,000 witness a large UFO travel across the city and then disappear over into the distance with considerable speed. Witnesses managed to capture the UFO craft on camera using their mobile phones and distressed passersby stopped in the town centre and the local park to witness the aerial phenomenon which they were convinced was no ordinary aircraft.
Witness, Ms. Anna Kotchetkova , who viewed the craft following her sons alerting her to the strange craft stated that it looked like ‘nothing on earth’.
The craft was described by other witnesses as being totally silent and emitting no discernable lights, the colour was greyish black and appeared to be shaped in the form of a Triangle with bevelled sides. The shape of the UFO was further described as somewhat irregular and lacking defined edges.
Additional witnesses stated they attempted to take a photograph but owing to the speed at which the object was travelling were unable to do so.
The flight path of the UFO appeared to be erratic yet at around 700 to 1000 meters above the horizon it’s navigational capabilities appeared to be unlike any craft seen in the skies before. Witnesses describe the size of the craft to be around 250ft in length and was thought to be moving at around 5-6 meters per second.
The Russian media is reporting heavily on the sighting and members of the Russian press are said to be descending upon the small village to gain a more detailed understanding from witnesses of what it was they actually saw.
Russia has been of late, experiencing somewhat of an upsurge in UFO sightings since the beginning of 2009 and the more remote Siberian regions are featuring heavily. Locals are convinced that a covert UFO base is housed somewhere in the vast planes of the Siberian landscape which considering the inhospitable nature of the region would indeed be a good location to house such a facility away from the prying eyes of members of the public.
